nyc baby

hey upper east siders i think its time i reveal that i finally joined the 212

well, i mean im in the east village which is TECHNICALLY more downtown, but we both have east in our names so its one in the same??? am i rite ladies???? probably not. but i have finally put aside all of the nyu shade gossip girl throws n let my inner dan huphrey shine. i have now lived on my own in manhattan for like 2 weeks and haven't gotten hit by a car or gone completely broke yet which i think says something.

my summer has come to an end and with that i had to say goodbye to the beach, the 5 fwy, silver lake ramen, n many close friends. in return i got student loans, random shitty smells outside, always changing weather, n a metro card. all jokes aside, i do like nyc so far. this is my first time visiting n its weird to say i decided to dedicate my next 4 years to a city i only saw through pictures n shows, but as of now i do not regret it.

new york has a charm of its own with people from all over the world. i meet random people almost every day, some who i will never see again and some i bump into at a dining hall as they claim to have met me while i was drinking outside insomnia cookies. its even crazier when i find out someone lived about 5 minutes away from me back home.

the random whiffs of ass on the streets and the trash bags just chilling outside are gross, but they do add character to the city that indeed never sleeps. my weekends are now spent walking to joes pizza at 2am while we try finding other things to do. #adulthoood

it does get lonely a bit though. walking 45mph next to strangers and tall buildings that block the sun does get a bit overwhelming at times. it feels as if everyone knows what they're doing and everyone has their cliques already while im taking naps n hiding out after my 11 o'clock classes.

but then again, when the sun does shine, the weather is hitting slightly over 75 degrees, n washington square park is filled with the cutest dogs i have ever seen i am proud n glad to have chosen to move out on my own thousands of miles away from my family and friends. i just wish i would've packed better sweaters.

xoxo
